Staff
Leslie Esselburn, Executive Director
Leslie joined TROT in October, 2000. Leslie's background in non-profit management was a great fit when TROT advertised for
its first Executive Director in the fall of 2000. Leslie and her husband, Ed had just
relocated to Tucson to enjoy retirement, but the TROT Job Description was too good a
match for Leslie to ignore.
As Executive Director, Leslie guides the TROT organization, supervises the staff, writes grants
and proposals for funding, seeks publicity and advances community awareness, manages the
organization budget, and directs the TROT fundraising events. She is TROT's voice in the
community and speaks often to the media, civic organizations, and supporters.
According to Leslie, "TROT is the most feel good place I've ever been!"
Janet Johns, Volunteer Coordinator
I have been volunteering at TROT on Wednesday mornings for the past seven years.
In 2007 my position was Property Manager, and in 2008 I became the Volunteer
Coordinator at TROT. The most inspiring job that I have is volunteering and
being able to work with the students and see their progress. My passion is my own
horses in my back yard, and I also enjoy riding my two-wheel convertible.
Carolyn Ohrel, Administrative Assistant
Growing up in Alabama, horses were the focal point of my life, including pony
club and eventing. I migrated to Arizona for college and later worked as a sign
language interpreter, paralegal, and fitness coach before finally finding my dream
job at TROT where my passion truly lies.
Amy Charlton, Bookkeeper
I am a native Tucsonan. I stated at TROT in 1998 as the Office Manager, then in 2005 went to part time and currently work off site as TROT's bookkeeper. I believe in the mission at TROT and the work it does and that is why I volunteer as much time as possible this wonderful organization.
