After 6 years, the TROT sensory course received an extreme makeover during the summer and fall of 2008.
This is one of the most exciting changes we have done to the property in recent years.  Thanks to the Tucson
Children’s Charities, the Sunrise Rotary, Mel and Robin Ritter, the Welcome Wagon and to our Eagle Scout who
made this transformation possible, and to Tyler Boerup who built our beautiful xylophone.

The new features of our sensory course includes:

A beautiful water feature with a pond and double cascading waterfalls, a new “critter condo” feature with standing desert flora and fauna shapes.

A shadow ramada that the children ride through and presently have pool noodles hanging down for a sensory experience, a maze in the shape of our TROT logo.

A free standing gate that our riders need to open and close from horseback, beautiful barrels to weave though, and our xylophone that is a work of art.

The amazing Grand Canyon that has twists and turns and is totally rock sided with desert plants, pictographs and artifacts.  The pathways that connect our fun activities have been resurfaced with many different colors to enhance the visual experience as our participants ride though.

Our TROT town mail boxes were beautifully repainted and new shavings were spread though the town.  Our Tire feature has been spiffed up and
new games added which include tic-tac-toe, picture matching games, and horse color identification.  These games challenge our riders in the areas of
eye-hand coordination & color and letter recognition.  Many of our sensory course paths have new river rock borders set down to keep us all on the right path.

We would like to thank the volunteers who have helped create and maintain our new sensory course:  Dick Greiser, Candy Bartsch, Richard Bartsch, Neil Johnson, Wayne Monroe and Vern Sheehan.  With your help, TROT has one of the most beautiful and functional sensory courses in the country.
