What we do:
Therapeutic Riding of Tucson (TROT) has been making a difference in the lives of children, adults, and veterans living with disabilities for 50 years. Co-founded in 1974 by a physical therapist and an equine specialist as an alternative to traditional therapy approaches, TROT began providing services to individuals with disabilities. It was one of the first programs of its kind in the United States.
TROT continues to be a leader in innovative and therapeutic therapies by maintaining a distinguished title of a Premier Accredited Center by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH), International. TROT is proud to be the only Premier Accredited Center providing life-changing services for individuals in the Greater Tucson area.
Over the years, TROT has served thousands of individuals living with disabilities. It is dedicated to empowering the most vulnerable individuals to move in a world where capabilities surpass the sense of inability through the power of horses.
TROT is a Premier Accredited center through the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH). This means that TROT meets the highest industry standards when it comes to safety, qualified staff, and service excellence.
TROT has been established at its current location since 1986. Our 18-acre property sits at the base of the picturesque Santa Catalina Mountains in Tucson, Arizona. TROT is fully equipped with 18 trained equine partners, covered and uncovered riding arenas, sensory trail, barn, six grassy pastures, and administrative offices.
TROT is a registered 501(c)(3) Charity charitable nonprofit organization.
